Box Score The men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision against Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference at the Harborside Recreation Center on Tuesday evening. Emmanuel took the first game by a score of 25-15 and the 2-0 advantage with a 25-21 win in game two. The Saints wrapped up the victory with a 25-14 win in the third and final game.
Johnson & Wales was led by freshman Alex Viera (Bay Short, N.Y.) with four kills while senior Dan Struebing (Coventry, R.I.) had four kills and four blocks for the Wildcats. Freshman Gerard Daniels (Miami, Fla.) notched 12 set assists in the setback.
Emmanuel was paced by senior Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) with 10 kills and three service aces while senior Tyson Rietz (Granite Bay, Calif.) had eight kills and four blocks for Emmanuel. Sophomore Nick Updike (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) recorded 25 set assists, five digs and seven kills in the victory for the visiting Saints.
Johnson & Wales is now 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the GNAC while Emmanuel is 5-1, 2-0 in league play. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, January 29th when they travel to Wentworth for a tri-match with Wentworth and CCNY starting at 11:00 a.m.
