Box Score 2 The men's volleyball team split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match with Emerson and Albertus Magnus at Emerson on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats opened the day with a 3-1 (28-26, 22-25, 19-25, 8-25) setback against Emerson before rebounding with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-16) win over Albertus Magnus.
In the first match of the day Johnson & Wales was led by freshman Shawn Kennedy (West Barnstable, Mass.) with 10 kills and five digs while freshman Bryan Tejada (Glendale, Fla.) had 14 set assists and eight digs in the loss for the Wildcats. Freshman Dan Struebing (Coventry, R.I.) had seven kills and four blocks for JWU.
The Wildcats responded with a commanding victory against Albertus Magnus and was led by Struebing with eight kills while senior Eric Minnich (Concord, Calif.) had seven kills, three digs and two blocks in the victory for the Wildcats.
Johnson & Wales is now 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the GNAC. The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday, January 25th when they host Emmanuel for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at 7:00 p.m.
