Newton, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University
men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision against Lasell
in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest on the road on
Friday evening. JWU posted a 30-19 setback in the first game and
fell behind 2-0 after a 30-25 loss in game two. Lasell wrapped up
the sweep with a 30-20 win in game three.
Sophomore Petar Yanikiev (Varna, Bulguria) led the way for Johnson
& Wales with a double-double, recording 10 kills and 12 digs
while junior Eric Minnich (Concord, Calif.) added 11 kills for the
Wildcats. Sophomore Robert Sloigh (Buffalo, N.Y) had 22 set assists
and five digs in the setback.
Dan Rogers paced Lasell with nine kills, two digs and two blocks
while Brendan McGourn added 37 set assists, 11 digs and five kills
in the victory for the Lasers.
With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 4-6 overall, 1-3 in the
GNAC while Lasell improves to 8-4 on the year, 3-1 in league play.
The Wildcats will return to action on Monday, February 15th when
they host Emmanuel for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference
contest at 7:00 p.m.
