Alan Segee

Alan Segee joined the athletic staff at JWU (Providence) in 1999. Since 2013, he has served as the Director of Sports Medicine, where he is responsible for the sports medicine policy University-wide. He is currently the athletic trainer directly responsible for women’s volleyball, men’s ice hockey and baseball. In 2022-23, the JWU sports medicine staff was named GNAC Athletic Training Staff of the Year.

A 1993 graduate of Rhode Island College with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and physical education, Segee then completed a one-year internship in Florida before returning to ‘The Ocean State’ to begin working high school outreach at a local physical therapy clinic. He returned to school in 1995 to earn his master’s degree in physical education from Cleveland State University, where he completed a graduate assistantship in sports medicine working with the men’s soccer and wrestling programs.

Segee then joined the Providence College athletic training staff, where he worked with last Friars baseball team, which advanced to the Regional Finals.

From 2016 to 2025, he was the athletic training chair for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.  He also serves as a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Associations Council on Professional Ethics.  He also currently heads the College and University Committee for the Rhode Island Athletic Trainers’ Association. 

Since 2024, Segee has served as the athletic trainer for the Newport Gulls, a member of the New England College Baseball League.

A lifetime Rhode Island resident, Segee currently lives in North Providence.
