Maria Coniglio

Maria Coniglio joined the JWU (Providence) women’s volleyball staff in 2021 season following four years as a standout student-athlete for the program. During that time, the Wildcats have appeared in the conference championship match three times (2021-22, 2024), winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GAC) Championship twice (2021-22).

Coniglio – who was named the 2018 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team – was an AVCA All-America First Team honoree in 2018, Second Team in 2017, Third Team in 2019, and Honorable Mention in 2016. The Old Bethpage, New York native graduated No. 3 in both kills (1,319) and kills/set (3.23), and No. 4 in total attacks (3,313) and was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Team all four years (2016-19) – the first Wildcat ever to do so.

As a sophomore in 2017, Coniglio guided the Wildcats to a 35-1 record and an NCAA Northeast Region Championship as they advanced to the Elite 8. In 2019, she was named the Distinguished Athlete of the year by the Rhode Island Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women

As a student-athlete at JWU, Conigolio was involved in multiple clubs and organizations at Johnson & Wales. She served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was an executive board member from 2018-20. In that same time frame, she volunteered to help at Special Olympics Volleyball.

Coniglio began her coaching career with Sportime Volleyball Club, with whom she also played for.
