MADDY SANTORE

Maddy Santore

Maddy Santore took over the coaching reins of the JWU (Providence) women’s ice hockey program prior to the 2022-23 campaign. The Wildcats have qualified for the conference playoffs in each of Santore’s three seasons behind the bench. During that span, 39 student-athletes have been named American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholars while 39 have received academic all-conference honors.

Santore arrived at JWU following four years as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Saint Michael’s College, in Colchester, Vt. During her time with the Purple Knights, Santore assisted with all practice and game planning, along with recruiting, scouting, and academic support for student-athletes. Santore helped the Purple Knights earn three New England Women’s Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) playoff berths, including an appearance in the semifinals in 2018-19, when the team posted its highest win total in 11 seasons.

While at SMC, Santore was one of 36 coaches and administrators from across the nation chosen to attend the 2020-21 NCAA Leadership Academy Workshop. She worked alongside Saint Michael's administrators to bring a leadership program for student-athletes to life on their campus. She also coached with Light the Lamp Hockey in South Burlington, Vt., creating and executing skill-based clinics for youth hockey players in the area, as well as supervising off-ice instruction for summer camp sessions.

Santore began her collegiate playing career as a member of the club ice hockey team at Rutgers University, where she spent two seasons (2008-10) before transferring to Saint Michael’s. The Millington, New Jersey native made the Dean’s List all four semesters while ‘On the Banks’ while earning Delaware Valley College Hockey Conference (DVCHC) MVP honors in 2009-10. Santore also received the Rutgers Academic Excellence Award.

At Saint Michael’s, Santore collected 50 points in 62 career outings (32-18-50), earning Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East All-Rookie Team laurels in 2010-11. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts after majoring in both English and Political Science. Santore – who minored in media studies, journalism, and digital arts at SMC – later earned her Master of Library and Information Science in December, 2016.

Santore also oversees the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at JWU.
