During the run of four championships in last five years, Ashley Olson has been a vital part of the Johnson & Wales University softball coaching staff. The 2020 campaign marks her fifth with the Wildcats. Â
Olson is a 2015 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where she was a team captain during her senior year. She served primarily as the team’s designated hitter, while also making appearances at catcher.
Olson transferred to URI after graduating from the Community College of Rhode Island, where she anchored the defense behind the plate and led the Knights to two Region XXI Championships in 2011 and 2012. During her time at CCRI, Olson was a two-time All-Region First Team selection, a two-time team captain, a 2011 NJCAA All-American, and the 2012 CCRI recipient of the RIAIAW Distinguished Scholar-Athlete award. She currently holds numerous school records such as hits and RBI’s in a season and career.
Olson has enjoyed success as a volunteer assistant coach with her high school’s softball program. During her time as a player and as a coach, the Coventry High School softball team has appeared in four Rhode Island Division 1 State Championships.
Olson graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She also holds an Associate of Arts degree from the Community College of Rhode Island.
