Emerson Lane racked up 12 kills and classmate
Bailey Koopman added 11 to propel the JWU (Providence) women's volleyball team to a thrilling 3-2 win over in-state rival Roger Williams University Wednesday night in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Wildcat Center.
Lane – who finished the match with a .364 hitting pct. – also racked up of the Wildcats 15 blocks while Koopman tallied four blocks of her own (one solo) and registered a .320 hitting pct. The win pushes JWU to 8-4 on the season and evens its conference mark at 1-1.
Sophomore
Trinity Ricevuto racked up a double-double with 16 digs and 10 kills as the Wildcats won 25-15, 23-25, 25-22, 20-25, 17-15. Sophomore
Sophia Santacroce handed out 39 assists and first-year
Emma Rivera Fernandez recorded 18 digs.
The Hawks held a 14-13 lead in the fifth and were serving for the match when Lane tallied her 12th kill of the night and pulled the Wildcats even at 14. Then with the match tied at 15, Santacroce snuck an attack over the net to give the home team match point before junior
Skylar Winchester closed out the win with a kill off a pass from Santacroce.
Winchester finished with nine digs and a pair of kills.
