PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) field hockey team lifted its record to 5-2 with a 3-0 shutout of Gordon College Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Emily Downing racked up a goal and an assist and junior
Susannah Brown netted her first goal of the season as the Wildcats moved to 2-0 in conference play. Senior
Ava Pontes racked up her team-leading fifth goal of the season and junior
Ava Gaudette dished out a pair of assists.
JWU outshot the Fighting Scots (0-6, 0-2 CNE) by a 20-2 margin and potted the eventual game-winner 20:36 into the contest. Downing doubled the lead with her third of the campaign to double the lead before Pontes put the game away with a goal at 59:40.

Sophia Brea recorded two saves and saw her record improve to 5-1. JWU closed the match with a 14-2 edge in penalty corners.
