NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The JWU (Providence) women's volleyball team swept a pair of non-conference road matches on Saturday at UMass Dartmouth, taking down Framingham State 3-0 before snaring a 3-2 win over the host Corsairs at Tripp Athletic Arena.
Wildcats 3, Rams 0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-20)
Junior
Nevaeh Arnold led JWU with 12 kills (.579 hitting pct.). Sophomore
Trinity Ricevuto added 10 kills, three aces and seven digs while junior
Emerson Lane had nine kills (.563 hitting pct.). First-year
Jordan Brinkley finished with seven kills and eight digs, and junior
Bailey Koopman racked up six kills and two block assists. Sophomore
Sophia Santacroce handed out 23 assists to go with five digs and four aces. First-year
Emma Rivera Fernandez paced the defense with 21 digs while first-year
Riley Matuszak added six assists and two aces. JWU closed the match with 49 kills and hit .357, highlighted by a .441 mark in the third set.
Wildcats 3, Corsairs 2 (18-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-10)
Arnold went off for with 17 kills while Brinkley added 15 and Ricevuto chalked up 11 kills, three aces and 13 digs. Lane, meanwhile, recorded 10 kills (.471 hitting pct), Santacroce handed out 47 assists and picked up 10 digs, and Rivera Fernandez compiled 25 digs. Koopman chipped in with three kills and seven blocks. The Wildcats finished the match with 60 kills, nine aces, 66 digs and 16 blocks in the five-set comeback victory.
