BEVERLY, Mass. – JWU (Providence) senior softball student-athlete
Jadyn Torres has been named the recipient of the Conference of New England (CNE) Elite 21 Award for softball. The CNE Elite 21 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating in the CNE Tournament in each of the league's 21 championships.
Torres graduated on May 2 with a degree in biology and a 4.0 grade point average (GPA). The El Paso, Texas native was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Academic All-Conference Team in both 2024 and 2025, and will soon be named to the CNE Academic All-Conference Team later this year.
On the diamond, Torres batted .306 with 12 doubles, one triple, two home runs, 23 RBI and eight stolen bases in 36 starts at shortstop for the Wildcats in 2026. She drove in two runs on eight different occasions, including her final collegiate game against Hartford in the CNE playoffs on Thursday, May 7.
Now in its second year, the CNE Elite 21 award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete, honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standing among their peers.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomore or above, who have participated in their sport for two years with their current institution, and are an active member on their team's roster.
