Wildcats sweep CNE doubleheader from Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. – The JWU (Providence) softball team swept a Conference of New England (CNE) doubleheader from Gordon College Saturday afternoon at the Gordon Softball Field.

Game One: Wildcats 4, Fighting Scots 1
Senior Mady Lyons launched her 11th home run of the season and finished with two hits. Junior Jessica Forneiro picked up an RBI on a sac fly and senior Jadyn Torres, along with juniors Gabby Bellamore and Chloe Brunelle, all registered two hits. Senior Jillian Reed moved to 8-4 as she fanned 10 over seven innings.

Game Two: Wildcats 8, Fighting Scots 6
Trailing 6-3 entering the seventh, the Wildcats rallied for five runs to complete their first-ever CNE doubleheader sweep. Lyons opened the frame with a home run before Bellamore brought in freshman Ashley Bergeron to make it 6-5. Senior Olivia Mason followed with a run-scoring single to tie the game before Torres doubled to bring in both Mason and sophomore Hailey Cardiello. Reed came on in relief in the sixth and struck out a pair to notch win No. 9.
