Relay teams shine at Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The JWU (Providence) women's outdoor track & field team competed at the Silfen Invitational Friday and Saturday, April 10-11, on the campus of Connecticut College.

The 4x400m relay team of Aliyah Wilson, Fallon Preble, Ayevah Marinez, and Alison Quiambao placed first with a time of 4:14.17. The same quad also placed third in the 4x100 (50.31).

Other highlights from the meet included:
  • Wilson won the long jump (5.50m) and finished second in the 400m dash (58.54)
  • Lauren Stanger was second in the shot put (10.85m) and 15th in the javelin (25.22m)
  • Lulani Haslinger finished second in the 1,500m run (5:10.28) and Josie Spaulding was 10th (5:22.23)
  • Rhiana Thomas took fifth in the shot put (10.54m) and eighth in the hammer (38.64m)
  • Samantha Miller claimed fifth in the pole vault (2.70m)
  • Marinez claimed sixth in the 200m dash (26.74) and seventh (1:01.60) 400m dash
  • Brynn Leahy finished sixth in the javelin (30.57m)
  • Lena Nicholson took sixth in the shot put (30.49m) and 16th in the hammer (33.90m)
  • Riley Veits claimed seventh in the pole vault (2.55m) and 13th in the shot put (27.66m)
  • Jade Ettienne (27.90m) was 11th in the shot put
  • Quiambao took 11th (27.15) in the 200m dash and Preble finished 14th (27.41)
