Brianne Foley led four JWU (Providence) student-athletes in double figures with 15 points in a 69-59 win at Endicott College Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) women's basketball action at MacDonald Gymnasium.
Senior
Mikayla Caruso racked up a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards as the Wildcats (17-4, 11-1 CNE) strengthened their lead on first place in the conference. Sophomores
Isabella Suero and
Mia Cruz each chipped in with 13 points while freshman
Julia Blum filled the stat sheet with seven points and eight rebounds.
The Wildcats held a two-point halftime lead as Foley netted eight, Cruz tallied seven, and freshman
Tahlia Peña scored six.
The Gulls (13-8, 9-3 CNE) tied the game at 46 four minutes into the fourth quarter before the Wildcats ripped off a 12-2 run to grab a 10-point lead at 58-48. A pair of free throws from Blum with less than a minute to go stretched the lead to 12 and sealed the win.
JWU outrebounded the Gulls 45-32, shot 40 percent from the field (25-of-62), and knocked down 12-of-14 from the charity stripe. Peña finished the contest with eight points and five rebounds while Foley blocked a pair of shots.
