Wildcats carry 12-game win streak into playoffs with 81-76 win over WNE

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Brianne Foley registered her sixth double-double of the season with 28 points and 10 rebounds in an 81-76 win over the JWU (Providence) women's basketball team over Western New England Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Wildcat Center.

Prior to the start of the contest, head coach Dino Porcic unveiled a 1,000-point banner during a ceremony to honor the seven student-athletes in program history to achieve this feat. Those in attendance included Raquel Pederzani, Johanna Santosuosso, Jenna Juron, Ashley Thompson, and Alexia Remirez, along with current sophomore Grace Jaffray, who surpassed the mark earlier this season.

Sophomore Isabella Suero knocked down four three-pointers and finished with 20 points while Jaffray scored 15 points and snared five boards. The win pushes the Wildcats record to21-4 on the season (14-2 CNE) as they head into Thursday's conference semifinal against the winner of UNE and Hartford, which is scheduled for Tuesday night.

The Wildcats held a three-point halftime lead (38-35) as Foley canned four triples and led all scorers with 18 points. They pushed their lead to as many as 17 late in the third before the Golden Bears outscored the home team 29-17 in the fourth.

JWU shot 44 percent – including 45 percent from deep (13-of-28) – and overcame being outrebounded 39-33 to win the contest by scoring 22 points off 16 WNE turnovers.
