NEW LONDON, Conn. – The JWU (Providence) wrestling team placed second at the 2026 New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Futures Tournament Sunday afternoon at Coast Guard Academy. The Wildcats totaled 138.5 points.

Mark Lattimore (157 lbs.), along with freshmen
Jahir Aguilar (133 lbs.) and
Brandon Beres (141 lbs.), all placed second. Aguilar posted a 3-1 record (one pin and one tech fall) while Beres knocked off both the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds to close with a 4-1 record. Lattimore, meanwhile, had a 4-1 record with two tech falls.
Junior
Vincent Faldetta (157 lbs.) and freshman
John Betancourt (285 lbs.) each finished third. Faldetta posted a 4-1 record with two tech falls while Betancourt notched a 3-1 record with three pins.
Junior
Luke Montefusco (149 lbs.) and freshman
Barron Ransom (184 lbs.) each took fourth. Montefusco tallied two tech falls and finished 3-2 while Ransom recorded two pins and ended the tournament 2-2.
Freshman
Tyler Colclough (285 lbs.) went 5-1 and took fifth, sophomore
Matthew Frueh (125 bs.) posted a 3-2 record (sixth place), sophomore
Logan Reiner (184 lbs.) captured sixth place with a 3-2 record (two pins and one the fall), and freshman
Ben Wilcox recorded a 3-2 record (two pins) to place sixth.
Coast Guard won the event with 193.5 points, followed by JWU, VTSU-Castleton (136 points), Roger Williams (94.5), and Springfield (80).
