Brown nets a pair in 5-0 shutout of Corsairs

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Junior Susannah Brown scored a pair of goals to send the JWU (Providence) field hockey team to a 5-0 win at UMass Dartmouth Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Cressy Field.

Senior Emily Downing, sophomore Izzy Paes, and first-year Kate Verderber all chipped in with goals to propel the Wildcats to their eighth win of the season. The visitors outshot the Corsairs 20-5 and held a 14-6 edge in penalty corners.

Downing scored the only goal JWU would need at 24:04 before Paes gave the visitors a two-goal halftime lead with her sixth of the season with 50 ticks on the clock. Both Downing and Paes now lead the team with six goals each.

Brown's second of 2026 late in the third upped the lead to 3-0. In the fourth, Verderber picked up her first collegiate marker at 52:58 and Brown capped the scoring less than 90 seconds later.
Senior Sophia Brea made four saves for her eighth win of the season.
