Grullon, Harrison combine for 48 in win over Curry

MILTON, Mass. – Freshman Omar Grullon poured in a career-high 25 points and sophomore Azariah Harrison added 23 in a 90-82 win for the JWU (Providence) men's basketball team over Curry College Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Katz Gymnasium.

Junior Alvin Baez posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards as the Wildcats improved to 2-16 on the year (1-8 CNE). Grullon, meanwhile, knocked down 7-of-8 from the charity stripe and Harrison canned three triples and was a perfect 6-of-6 at the line.

Graduate student Dylan Hooter chipped in with eight off the bench to go with five rebounds for JWU, which drained 45 percent of its shots and sank 28-of-34 from the free throw line (28-of-34).

The Wildcats closed the first half on a 12-2 run to take a nine-point lead into halftime (47-38). Harrison sparked the run with seven points while Grullon netted the other five.

A pair of free throws by Harrison to open the second-half scoring pushed the JWU lead to a game-high 11 before Curry ripped off a 23-8 run over the next eight minutes to pull ahead 61-57. Baez then tied the game at 65 with a bucket midway through the half before giving his team the lead for good with a layup on the ensuing JWU possession.
