Sophia Brea scored the game-winning goal early in the third period and sophomore netminder
Katelyn Cardoso made 33 saves as the JWU (Providence) women's hockey team knocked off Curry College 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Canton Ice House.
Sophomore
Cailean Corbally also found the back of the net for the Wildcats, who ran their win streak to two and evened their record at 6-6-0 on the season (4-3-0 CNE). The win was also the second in their last three meetings with the Colonels.
Corbally's second tally in as many games and third of the season late in the second staked the Wildcats to a 1-0 lead. Brea's first of the season and 12th of her career 63 seconds into the third doubled the visitors lead. Curry sliced its deficit in half with the goalie on the bench at 19:13.
Junior
Marissa Lafferty was credited with a pair of assists for JWU, which was outshot 34-19. Sophomore
Jordan Hopping blocked a team-high five shots, and both Lafferty and sophomore
Ava Morgan won eight face-offs.
