Wildcats split non-conference DH at Wheaton (MA)

NORTON, Mass. – Sophomore Amanda Madigan drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning to lift the JWU (Providence) softball team to a 2-1 win in the nightcap of its non-conference doubleheader at Wheaton (MA) College Tuesday afternoon at the Clark Softball Field.

Game One: Lyons 2, Wildcats 1
Junior Jadyn Torres drove in freshman Abby Nersesian with a double in the fifth to tie the game at one before the Lyons walked it off in the seventh. Junior Jillian Reed allowed seven hits and two runs with four walks and four punchouts in 6.2 IP.

Game Two: Wildcats 2, Lyons 1
Sophomore Olivia Mason brought in classmate Jessica Forneiro in the second and Madigan knocked in the go-ahead run on a single to left-center which scored junior Rachel Gosselin. Sophomore Madi Wong registered her first collegiate win as she held the Lyons to five hits and one run in six innings of work. She walked three and fanned a pair. Reed came on for the save in the seventh and allowed a pair of baserunners before inducing back-to-back groundouts to close the game.
