UNE ends Wildcats season with 3-0 loss in CNE Quarterfinals

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The No. 6 seed JWU (Providence) women's ice hockey team fell to No. 3 seed University of New England 3-0 in the Conference of New England (CNE) Quarterfinals Wednesday night at Harold Alfond Forum.

Freshman netminder Katelyn Cardoso recorded 22 saves and junior Allyson Barry fired off a team-high three shots as the Wildcats closed their season with a 9-15-2 record. The Nor'easters outshot JWU 25-21 and each team went 0-for-2 on the power play.

UNE scored the only goal it would need 9:18 into the second on a pass that appeared to ricochet off the stick of Cardoso and find the back of the net. The Nor'easters added two more goals 46 seconds apart in the third to seal the win and advance to the semifinals.

Freshman Marissa Lafferty went 10-of-13 on face-offs (77 percent), and seniors Madi Fox and Reese Middendorf each blocked two shots.
