Jack Donnelly and freshman
Jacob Tressler each scored twice for the JWU (Providence) men's lacrosse team in a 16-5 loss to Wheaton (MA) College in the season opener Friday afternoon in non-conference action at Nordin Field.
Freshman
Greyson Doyle also scored his first collegiate goal for the Wildcats, who were outshot 61-31 on the day. Donnelly paced the team with seven ground balls and freshman goalie
Andrew Sforza stopped 19 shots in goal.
JWU trailed 4-0 after one before scoring four times in the second to cut their deficit to two (6-4) entering halftime. Two of the goals were man-up tallies off the stick of Tresser.
The Lyons opened the second half with eight unanswered goals to put the game away. Donnelly capped the scoring with his second of the day with 2:18 remaining.
