Wildcats season ends with loss to No. 4 Curry

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss to No. 4 Curry Friday night on Senior Night in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Lynch Arena.

Junior Cam Martin scored his third goal of the season and sophomore netminder Jake Inzirillo stopped 35 shots as the Wildcats finished the 2024-25 campaign with their highest win total (nine) since the 2016-17 campaign.

The nationally-ranked Colonels (22-3-0, 16-2-0 CNE) scored a pair of power-play goals en route to building a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. Martin tapped-in a centering feed from freshman Brad Cook 6:13 into the third to bring the Wildcats to within two.

JWU played the final 2:45 of regulation with Inzirillo on the bench in favor of the extra attacker, forcing Curry goalie Shane Soderwall to make four saves down the stretch to preserve the win.

Senior Sam Band was credited with the secondary assists on the JWU goal and also won 19 face-offs. Band, along with classmate Kadyn Fennell and Conner Lindsoe, were honored prior to the start of the game for their contributions to the program.
