Josh Zangerle dropped in a team-high 15 points for the JWU (Providence) men's basketball team in a 65-54 win over New England College Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Wildcat Center.
The Wappingers Falls, New York native knocked down three triples and also dished out four assists as the Wildcats improved to 5-16 (3-9 GNAC). Junior
Izaiah Shaw-Glen added 14 points and nine boards while freshman
Azariah Harrrison chipped in with eight off the bench and graduate student
Sean Duke tallied seven points, six boards, and two assists.
JWU shot 46 percent in the first half (16-of-35) and outrebounded the Pilgrims 26-15 en route to building a 43-29 halftime lead. Shaw-Glen led all scorers with 11 points in the opening stanza while Zangerle and sophomore
Miftah Ibiyemi each canned two three-pointers.
Zangerle converted a layup six minutes into the second half to stretch the lead to 18 (52-34). NEC cut its deficit to single digits three times in the final six minutes but was never able to climb closer than eight points.

Jonah Phang snared 11 boards to go with six points and two blocks for the Wildcats, who also received nine points, eight rebounds, and three assists from freshman
RJ Jones.
