COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – JWU (Providence) senior
Zofia Bangs has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Region 1 Second Team.
Bangs – who was named to the Conference of New England (CNE) Second Team last month – led the Wildcats in both goals (nine) and points (20), and will graduate No. 4 in program history in both categories (34 G & 76 pts.).
The Stoughton, Massachusetts native scored three goals in a win over Gordon on September 13 and struck for two goals against both Salem St. (Sept. 10) and UNE (Sept. 27).
Division III teams are separated into six regions and each of these regions recognizes up to 16 student-athletes on both the first team and second teams. A total of 12 student-athletes from the CNE were recognized: six from Endicott, two from both Roger Williams and Western New England, and one each from JWU and UNE.
The
NFHCA Division III All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of NFHCA postseason awards over the next several weeks. Next to be announced are the
NFHCA Regional Players of the Year on December 11, followed by the
NFHCA All-American teams on December 16 and the
NFHCA National Player of the Year on December 18.
