PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman
Vivi Mansfield tallied 13 kills to lead the JWU (Providence) women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over the University of New England Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Wildcat Center.
The Norwalk, Connecticut native finished with a .323 hitting pct. to spark the Wildcats to a 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 sweep of the Nor'easters (9-8, 3-2 CNE). With the win, JWU improves to 12-6 overall and 3-2 in the conference. More importantly, the Wildcats now hold the tiebreaker over UNE in the race for the conference's six playoff berths.
Sophomore
Nevaeh Arnold threw down nine kills while
Bailey Koopman continued her solid play as she closed the match with a .500 hitting pct. (seven kills) and a pair of blocks. Freshman
Brooke Caquelin racked up nine kills and three digs, senior
Ajie Jagne did it on both sides of the ball with seven kills (.429 hitting pct.) and two blocks, and freshman
Sophia Santacroce filled the stat sheet with 38 assists and eight digs.
Defensively, senior
Sierra Nausieda hit the 20-dig mark for the eighth time this season as she notched 21. Sophomore
Skylar Winchester was also steady on defense for head coach
Michael Houlihan, securing nine digs of her own to help hold the visitors to a .145 hitting pct.
