No. 7 Curry pots two PP goals in 5-3 win over Wildcats

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Senior Sam Band scored a power-play goal for the JWU (Providence) men's hockey team in a 5-3 loss to No. 7 Curry College in Conference of New England (CNE) action Friday night at Lynch Arena.

Classmate Kadyn Fennell and sophomore Harout Torosian also found the back of the net as the Wildcats moved to 8-8-1 with the setback (3-6-1 CNE). Sophomore netminder Jake Inzirillo recorded 38 saves as JWU was outshot 43-22 – included 23-14 in the first period.

The Wildcats and Colonels were tied at two after one. Fennell secured his fifth goal of the season at 4:37 to tie the game at one before Band's third tuck of 2024-25 at 11:46 put the home team up 2-1. The Colonels ripped off the next four to move in front 4-2 midway through the third, and Torosian capped the scoring with his sixth wi­­­­­th five minutes remaining.

Freshman Bret Beale collected a pair of assists while junior Cam Martin, sophomore Connor Nelson, and freshmen Luke Gaffney each picked up one. Fennell and senior Conner Lindsoe each blocked a team-high three shots.
