Women's basketball hits triple digits in road win at Fitchburg State

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Freshman and reigning Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week Isabella Suero dropped in a game-high 27 points for JWU (Providence) in a 109-62 win at Fitchburg State Wednesday night in non-conference action at Parkinson Gymnasium.

Suero knocked down 10 of her 17 field-goal attempts – including seven 3-pointers – in just 26 minutes of action as JWU improved to 7-1 on the season. Classmate and three-time GNAC Rookie of the Week Grace Jaffray added 24 points (10-of-20 FG), six boards and four dimes while freshman Brianne Foley dropped in 15 points and snared nine rebounds.

Senior Madison Clark (13 points) and sophomore Alexa Lora (10 points) made it five JWU student-athletes in double-figures, and the Wildcats canned 49 percent of their field goal attempts (43-of-87) and drained 15 triples. Junior Mikayla Caruso tied for the team lead with nine boards while senior Kyla Thompson pulled down five.

Defensively, JWU turned 27 Falcon turnovers into 40 points and held the home team to 34 percent shooting, including 3-of-17 from downtown (18 pct.).
