PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) wrestling team defeated No. 11 TCNJ, 24-23, and No. 17 Averett, 34-6, at the TCNJ Field House Saturday afternoon before downing No. 12 NYU, 20-19, Saturday night at the John A. Paulson Center.

Senior Joziah Fry (125 lbs.) defeated No. 3 ranked Mason Barrett of Averett via tech fall 19-4 in 3:30 at 133 lbs., then pinned No. 7 Matthew Griffin of TCNJ in 6:20 and toppled No. 11 Harrison Gordon with a 19-4 tech fall in 1:01.

Junior Adolfo Betancur (285 lbs.) secured pins against the Cougars (1:19) and Lions (4:30) before winning an 8-3 decision against NYU. Junior Cameron Soda (141 lbs.) posted a 3-0 record with two wins coming via tech fall and one by decision.

Sophomore Jack Richardson (165 lbs.) secured two wins by tech fall and another by major decision to help the Wildcats run the table. Senior Hayden Brown (157 lbs.) went 2-1 on the day as he picked up a pair of major decision wins. Freshman Zach Miller (197 lbs.) also won twice on Saturday securing a 15-11 decision against Averett and a 4-1 decision against the Violets.
