Wildcats cap regular season with 3-1 win over Cadets

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Sophia Warburton tallied a goal and an assist in the JWU (Providence) women's soccer team's 3-1 win over Norwich University Tuesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Graduate student Madison Sanborn and freshman Jamie Davies added goals for the Wildcats, who capped the regular season with a 14-0-1 record in conference play (16-3-1 overall) and secured the No. 1 seed in the GNAC Tournament for the fifth-consecutive season. Seniors Carly McCrumb and Leah Bragaw each played 45 minutes in goal with Bragaw earning the win to move to 5-1-0 on the season.

Warburton opened the scoring at 22:34 with her sixth goal of 2024 following a pass from classmate Grace Sheehan. The Cadets capitalized on their only corner kick of the match 16 minutes later to knot the score at one.

Davies scored the eventual game-winner less than 10 minutes into the second half with a redirect of a cross from Warburton, and Sanborn capped the scoring with a goal off a corner kick from sophomore Jessica Lee. JWU finished the night with a 24-5 edge in shots.
