PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) wrestling team rallied from an early deficit to defeat New York University 22-16 Saturday night at the Wildcat Center.
The Wildcats fell behind early 13-3 before rallying to win five of the final six matches of the night. Junior All-America
Dylan Harr defeated
Tony Astarian via 6-4 decision at 197 lbs. to make it 13-6 before sophomore
Adolfo Betancur pinned Luke DuPont at 285 lbs. in 3:56 to even the match as 12.
Sophomore
Harrison Gordon went on to win by major decision over Thomas Fischer (14-1) at 125 lbs. to put the Wildcats in front 16-13. Junior All-America
Joziah Fry downed Taisei Kurachi at 133 lbs. by a score of 10-4 to push the lead to 19-13 and, leading 19-16 heading into the final bout at 141 lbs., graduate student
Victor Perlleshi secured a win via decision (10-6) to close the night.
