PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Graduate student
Hailey Schneider scored the game-winning goal early in the second quarter to lift the JWU-Providence field hockey team to a 4-0 win over Anna Maria College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Freshman
Rayne Millett potted her first collegiate goal for the Wildcats (2-0), who outshot the AMCats 43-0. Juniors
Haley Budenas and
Darian Shepherd also tallied for JWU while sophomore
Rebecca Johnson and freshman
Sophia Brea each played one half in goal and did not face a shot.
Schneider and Shepherd scored 2:12 apart early in the second quarter to break the scoreless tie and give the home team the lead. Less than six minutes later, Millett knocked home a redirected shot from sophomore
Emma Ferrara to extend the lead to 3-0 before Budenas capped the scoring in the third with a goal off a penalty corner at 36:41.
