Wildcats advance to GNAC Championship with 14-5 thumping of Saints

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Madeleine Gould tied her career-high with seven goal in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 14-5 win over Emmanuel (MA) College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Lacrosse Quarterfinal action Wednesday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Senior Taina Gamory added one goal and eight helpers to send the Wildcats (15-2) to the conference championship for the seventh-consecutive season. Top-seeded JWU will host No. 2 seed St. Joseph's (ME) this Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Junior Maris DiBeneditto added four goals and an assist for the Wildcats while classmate Katie Sloan scored twice. Sophomore and reigning GNAC Goalkeeper of the Year Emma Glyman recorded 12 saves – including eight in the second half – and senior Ally Wilson caused a team-leading four turnovers and collected five ground balls, which trailed only sophomore Neely Connor (six) and Glyman (five).

The Wildcats held a 6-3 lead behind three goals from DiBeneditto, two from Gould and one from Sloan. They carried a 10-5 lead into the fourth quarter, where they outscored the Saints 4-0 to pull away.
