The reign continues: Wildcats win fourth-straight GNAC Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Angelina Carrion scored a pair of second-half goals to help the JWU-Providence women's soccer team win its fourth-straight Great Northeast Athletic conference (GNAC) Championship Saturday night at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Freshmen Sophia Warburton and Jessica Lee notched assists for the Wildcats (18-2-3), who will find out where their NCAA First Round matchup will take place on Monday afternoon. Carrion was named Tournament MVP while senior Madison Sanborn, juniors Emily DeRoehn and Angelina Oliveira, and Warburton were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Wildcats outshot the Saints (18-3-0) by an 11-3 margin in the first half but were unable to get one past goalkeeper Gaby Baker. Carrion finally broke through in the second half for JWU, knocking in a corner kick from Lee to stake the home team to a 1-0 lead. She added an insurance marker with less than two minutes remaining in the second half.

The Saints cut their deficit to one with a goal by Adeline LeGault with 25 seconds remaining to account for the final score.

Junior Carly McCrumb came on in relief of classmate Leah Bragaw to start the second half and recorded one save to earn the win, her 10th of the season. Baker finished the night with 10 saves.
