Gulls deal Wildcats second loss of 2023

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU-Providence field hockey team was defeated by Endicott College 1-0 Wednesday night in non-conference field hockey action at the Scott Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Freshman goalkeeper Sophia Brea recorded seven saves for the Wildcats, who slipped to 12-2 on the season and 1-1 against Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foes; earlier this season, JWU defeated UNE 2-1 at the SMAC. Graduate student Margaret Johnson led the Wildcats with four shots on goal.

The Gulls (12-2) scored the only goal of the contest 3:09 into the second half on a penalty corner. Kathleen Reissfelder inserted the ball to Reagan Hicks, who slid a pass to Abby Antonelli. The sophomore fired a shot past Brea for her third of the season.

Endicott closed the contest with an 11-8 edge in shots.
