ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Junior Brendan Shandley and sophomore Kevin Bite each racked up a goal and an assist in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 5-1 win over Rivier University Friday night in non-conference action at the New England Sports Village.
Sophomore Sam Band collected two goals while senior Breck Crawford and junior Brent Rickett each picked up a pair of apples as the Wildcats exploded for four goals in the third period to secure their first win of the season. Junior Hayden Haldane potted his fourth goal of the campaign in a win which saw JWU go 2-for-8 with the man advantage.
With the score knotted at one entering the third, Bite's marker off a feed from Shandley 7:35 into the stanza gave the Wildcats the lead for good. Less than three minutes later, Band's first goal of 2022-23 pushed the lead to 3-1 before Shandley's power-play goal at 11:51 extended the lead to 5-1. Band added an empty-netter to cap the scoring.
Sophomore Jacob Perrin recorded 18 saves for head coach Eric Graham as JWU outshot the Raiders (5-7-1) by a 24-19 margin.
