Women's Volleyball advances to GNAC Championship with 3-1 win over Lasell

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Sarah Miller tallied 15 kills in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 3-1 win over Lasell University Thursday night in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Volleyball Semifinals at the Wildcat Center.

The win – the Wildcats 19th of the season – coupled with a 3-2 win by No. 4 seed Simmons over top-seeded Rivier means JWU will host the GNAC Championship match this Saturday against the Sharks at noon. JWU is seeking its seventh consecutive conference title (2015-19; 2021).

Miller added four digs, two blocks, and a service ace to go with a .423 hitting pct. as JWU downed the Lasers 25-14, 9-25, 25-11, 25-18. Classmate Peyton Oliver collected six kills, five blocks, and four digs while sophomore Kyra Hissner registered 24 assists, four kills, and six digs.

Miller racked up six of her kills in the opening set to go with three apiece from Hissner and Oliver. After dropping the second set, the Wildcats bounced back to post a .375 hitting pct. in the third set behind three kills from Miller, three from sophomore Masina Tupea, and two each from freshmen Daniela Rank and Ajie Jagne.

JWU closed out the match in four behind five kills from Miller and three from Rank, as well as nine assists from Hissner and five digs from senior Emily Corbett.
