STANDISH, Maine – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University women's volleyball team swept a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matches Saturday, defeating Emmanuel (MA) College and St. Joseph's University at Alfond Center.
Match One: JWU 3, Emmanuel (MA) 0 (25-7, 25-15, 25-17)
Freshman Ajie Jagne posted four kills and a .571 hitting pct. in the Wildcats sweep of the Saints. Sophomore Masina Tupea picked up eight kills (.462 hitting pct.) while junior Sarah Miller filled the stat sheet with nine digs, seven kills, and a pair of service aces. Senior Emily Corbett picked up eight digs and five assists, sophomore Kyra Hissner handed out 14 assists and tallied four digs, and freshman Nicole Abril notched six kills.
Match Two: JWU 3, St. Joseph's (ME) 0 (28-26, 25-11, 25-17)
Junior Peyton Oliver paced the Wildcats with 12 kills and also collected four service aces, two digs, two blocks, and two assists. Miller added five kills and six digs, Corbett racked up 16 digs, and Hissner tallied 23 assists. Tupea, meanwhile, chipped in with eight digs and five kills.
