Wildcats Drop Two At Emmanuel

BOSTON, Mass. - The Johnson & Wales softball team dropped a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference games on the road on Saturday against Emmanuel. The Wildcats fell 9-3 in the opener and 13-3 in game two.

 

Records:

JWU: 14-3, 6-2 GNAC

Emmanuel: 13-3, 6-0 GNAC

 

Statistics:

Kaelani Gamble: 2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI (Gm 2)

Summer Ramundo: 1-for-3, HR, RBI (Gm 1)

Jill Pulek: 1-for-3, 3B, RBI (Gm 1)

 

Of Note:

Summer Ramundo opened the scoring in the first game with a solo homerun in the 2nd inning. After surrendering the lead in the bottom half of the second, Jill Pulek smacked a run-scoring triple to right center plating Megan Antaya and scored on an errant throw from the outfield giving JWU a 3-2 lead thru two and a half. The Saints grabbed seven unanswered runs to earn the 9-3 victory. 

In the nightcap, the Wildcats, again, claimed an early lead with a Julia Huzi RBI groundout to grab the 1-0 lead in the 3rd. Emmanuel had three runs cross the plate in the home half of the 3rd and four in the 5th to claim a 7-1 advantage. Kaelani Gamble launched a two-run homer to left to cut the deficit to 7-3 but the Saints ended the game in 6th with a six run inning.

 

Up Next:

JWU will host University of Saint Joseph on Thursday in Providence. The GNAC doubleheader is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
