BRUNSWICK, Maine- The Johnson & Wales University cross country teams wrapped up their season Saturday. The Wildcats competed at the NCAA New England Regional, hosted by Bowdoin College.
The women placed 47th with 1,325 points to finish ahead of Simmons and just behind Emerson. The men scored 1,655 points to take 55th. JWU was behind Emerson and ahead of Newbury. MIT took the women's championship while Amherst won the men's title.
First to finish for the women was sophomore Kaylan Dunham in 24:59.00 to place 183rd. Next for the Wildcats was Mary Kelly, finishing in 25:31.74 in her final collegiate race. She was followed by Vanessa Bueti in 284th place at 26:49.83. Fourth to finish was Hannah Blossom, crossing the line in 27:33.88. Finishing fifth for the team was Tori Finch at 28:56.74.
Leading the men was junior Brent Giles as the first JWU runner across the line in 30:53.39, placing 293rd. Next for the Wildcats was freshman Matthew Ursillo in 31:41.79. Nicholas Pereira produced a time of 32:09.40. Completing the JWU scorers with a time of 33:53.90 was Nathan Pasquarello.
