BOSTON, Mass. – With the conference championship two weeks away, the Johnson & Wales University cross country teams got ready with the Saints Invitational, hosted by Emmanuel College, at Franklin Park.
Both teams finished 12th. The women recorded 328 points while the men tallied 351 points. Gordon won the women's meet and Wentworth took the men's race.
The best finish of the day was turned in by freshman Victoria Barlow (Riverhead, N.Y.) with a 20:24 on the 5k course. Senior Mary Kelly (Wheaton, Ill.) ran a season-best time of 21:26 to finish 43rd. Third on the team was senior Hannah Blossom (Westchester, Pa.) with a 23:52. Rounding out the JWU finishers was Kate Fiorella (Fredonia, N.Y.) at 24:48 and sophomore Isabella Defrancesco (Boston, Mass.) followed at 25:52.
Leading the men on the 8k course was freshman Cole Geraghty (Bogota, N.J.) in 28:22 to take 27th. Senior David Sherman (Yarmouthport, Mass.) posted his fastest time of the year with a 29:00 to finish 50th. Next across the finish line was Alex Nathan (Beachwood, Ohio) at 30:58. Completing the JWU scorers was Nick Pereira (Franklin, Mass.) at 31:54 and Nathan Pasquarello posted a 39:15.
The Wildcats will serve as the host for the GNAC meet, October 28 at Colt State Park in Bristol.
