
LINCOLN, R.I. – It was virtually a home meet for the Johnson & Wales University cross country teams on Saturday. The Wildcats were just up the road at CCRI for the Tri-State Championship.
The women had three runners in the top 20 as they finished third with 71 points. JWU was just edged out by Emmanuel. The men's team came in just behind Nichols with a fifth-place total of 123 points. Salve Regina won both the men's and women's races.
Turning in a season-best time of 20:28.90 to finish fourth was freshman Victoria Barlow (Riverhead, N.Y.). Classmate Kaylan Dunham (Manassas, Va.) was next at 20:48.80 to take seventh. Also cracking the top 15 was senior Mary Kelly (Wheaton, Ill.) with a season-best time of 21:42.80. Rounding out the JWU scorers was Alison King (San Diego, Calif.) at 23:10.00 and Hannah Blossom (Westchester, Pa.) crossed the line in 23:55.50.
Crossing the line in fifth place of the men's race was freshman Cole Geraghty (Bogota, N.J.) at 28:44.00. Senior David Sherman (Yarmouthport, Mass.) turned in a top-20 finish with his time of 29:50.40. Junior Alex Nathan (Beachwood, Ohio) posted his best time of the year in 31:24.70. Alex Prusky (Schenectady, N.Y) was next at 32:23.70 and Nick Pereira (Franklin, Mass.) surpassed his best time of the season by more than a minute with a time of 32:53.50.
