WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University cross country teams completed the season on Saturday. The Wildcats ran at the NCAA New England region meet, hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park.
The men's squad recorded 1,033 points to take 33rd on the 8k course. The women took 43rd on the 5k course with a total of 1,317 points.
Senior Kellie Graf (Ballston Lake, NY) had one of the best races of her final season, leading the team with a time of 25:42.38. Junior Mary Kelly (Wheaton, Ill.) just edged teammate Ciera Gross (Blairstown, NJ) as they crossed the line in 25:53.78 and 25:54.43, respectively. In her final collegiate race, senior Taniecia Anderson (Mount Vernon, NY) posted a time of 26:00.01. Finishing up the Wildcat scorers was junior Olivia Molokwu at 26:01.40.
Just as he has all season, senior Adam Sachs (Ellicott City, Md.) was the first runner across the finish line for JWU. In his final collegiate race, he posted a time of 25:43.57. Next was classmate Brandon Au (Oxford, Conn.) at 28:13.93. The next two Wildcats were only five seconds apart as senior Alex Melnick (Port Jervis, NY) crossed in 28:33.32 and junior David Sherman (Yarmouthport, Mass.) followed at 28:38.07. Rounding the JWU contingency was Alex Nathan (Beachwood, Ohio) at 31:25.62.
