BOSTON – With a young team there is a lot for the Johnson & Wales University women's cross country team to look forward to in the future. The Wildcats had a solid performance on Saturday, placing fifth at the GNAC Championship, held at Franklin Park.
The women's team placed fifth with 127 points as they edged Suffolk by one point. Norwich and Simmons tied at 50 points with the Cadets winning the tiebreaker to claim the title.
The first women's runner across the line was sophomore Mary Kelly (Wheaton, Ill.) in 17th at 21:04. Just 12 seconds behind her was Olivia Molokwu (Malden, Mass) at 21:16 to come in 21st. JWU runners finished one after the other as sophomore Ciera Gross (Blairstown, NJ) came in 30th at 21:57 and Taniecia Anderson (Mt. Vernon, NY) was next with 22:05. Senior Kellie Graf (Ballston Lake, NY) rounded out the JWU scorers with a time of 22:16 to take 36th.
The Wildcats run their final meet of the year when they travel to the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Westfield, Mass. on November 12.
