Wildcats Run at James Early Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Going up against its strongest competition of the year, the Johnson & Wales University cross country teams took to the trail at the James Early Invitational, hosted by Westfield State. The men finished 25th on the 8k course with a total of 651 points while the women scored 827 points to place 30th in the 5k race.

Freshman Ciera Gross (Blairstown, NJ) continues to lead the women's program as she was the first Wildcat across the line with a time of 25:31.41 to take 160th. Classmate Mary Kelly (Wheaton, Ill.) was close behind at 25:39.81 as was Olivia Molokwu (Malden, Mass) with a 25:46.65. Taniecia Anderson (Mt. Vernon, NY) and Kellie Graf (Ballston Lake, NY) finished up the JWU scoring at 26:38.55 and 27:18.13, respectively.

Just missing out on a top 10 performance in the men's race was senior Adam Sachs (Ellicott City, Md.) with an 11th-place time of 25:58.81. Senior Brandon Au (Oxford, Conn.) posted a time of 28:16.05 while classmate Alex Melnick (Port Jervis, NY) was just four seconds behind at 28:20.49. Rounding out the JWU scorers with season-best times was Josh Letenore (East Providence, RI) at 29:36.62 and a 30:12.48 from freshman Mike Jones (Wallkill, NY).

Johnson & Wales runs its final meet of the regular season when it travels to the Emmanuel Invitational on Friday.
