WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior setter Brylee Frank (Palm City, Fla.) and junior defensive specialist Elyssa Nicolas (San Francisco, Calif.) took home Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Libero of the Week honors announced Monday afternoon.
Frank guided No. 23 Johnson & Wales to a 4-0 week, which included a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over non-conference Ithaca on Friday evening. Against the Bombers, she nearly notched her first triple-double of the season pacing the offense with 49 assists, while tallying 16 digs and nine kills. Frank closed out the week helping the Wildcats finish the regular season with a perfect 12-0 GNAC marking following a pair of 3-0 victories over Colby-Sawyer and Norwich on Saturday. Against the Chargers and Cadets, Frank combined for 55 assists, 16 digs, eight kills and five aces.
Against the Bombers, Nicolas tallied 27 defensive digs, while registering a pair of aces. Nicolas helped the Wildcats close out the regular with a perfect 12-0 GNAC mark for the third consecutive year following two 3-0 victories over Colby-Sawyer and Norwich University. Against the Chargers and Cadets, she combined for 26 digs.
No. 23 Johnson & Wales begins its run in pursuit of its, conference-most, 10th title, including fifth straight, Tuesday evening, hosting eighth-seed Lasell University at 7:30 p.m.
