MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The No. 18 Johnson & Wales women's volleyball team blanked Trinity College (Conn.), 3-0, in non-conference action at the Wesleyan Invitational late Friday afternoon.

Johnson & Wales set the tone of the match early in the first set. Seniors Kate Walker (Oakland, Calif.) and Brylee Frank (Palm City, Fla.) ignited a 9-0 run to take a commanding 15-2 advantage. During the stretch, sophomore outside hitter Tiah Scott (Medford, Mass.) contributed to the offense, notching three kills as the Wildcats held on to take the first set, 25-13.
The Wildcat offense carried its momentum into set two. Midway through the set and holding a small, two-point lead, senior middle blocker Hannah Dolan (San Clemente, Calif.) sparked a mini 5-0 run with a pair of kills to take a 14-7 lead. Johnson & Wales never looked back and took a commanding two-match advantage with a 25-13 victory.
Trinity made the third set close, taking an early 5-4 lead, but after a service error gave the serve back to Johnson & Wales, the Wildcats never trailed again. Senior outside hitter Maria Coniglio (Old Bethpage, N.Y.), who was one dig shy of her ninth double-double of the season, ignited an 8-3 run as the Wildcats claimed the match with a 25-14 third set win.
No. 18 Johnson & Wales returns to the court tomorrow against No. 14 Juniata at 11 a.m. to conclude the Wesleyan Invitational.
