PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 5th ranked women's volleyball team cruised past Stevens Institute of Technology and Roger Williams at the Wildcat Center on Saturday. Senior Brylee Frank narrowly missed a triple-double in their 3-1 win over the Ducks of Stevens before taking down RWU 3-0. Maria Coniglio collected 23 kills on the day while hitting .545 against SIT and .350 against RWU.

Johnson & Wales opened play on Saturday with convincing back-to-back set wins over Stevens, 25-13, 25-13. The Ducks were able to overcome an early 10-8 deficit in set three and tame the Wildcats, 25-22. JWU answered a late push by Stevens in the fourth set and grinded out a 25-18 victory to claim the match, 3-1. Maria Coniglio and Kate Walker each registered 13 kills apiece while Frank hit a .471 with eight kills, 36 set assists and 13 digs.
Against Roger Williams, JWU used a 5-0 run in the middle of the opening set, capped off by a Coniglio kill, to hold a 15-5 advantage. The Wildcats hit a .517 and closed the set with a four point run to earn the 25-12 victory. JWU followed up the strong first set with a .486 hitting percentage in set two and were led by Tiah Scott with three kills in the middle of the set that pushed the Wildcat advantage to ten, 17-7. It was the usual suspects in set three with Coniglio tallying three kills amidst a 9-1 run that landed the Wildcats in front early, 12-5. JWU cruised to the 3-0 win with a 25-17 win in the third and final set.
The Wildcats will have 10 days off before they host the inaugural President's Game against MIT on September 24th beginning at 7 p.m.
