
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 5 Johnson & Wales women's volleyball team dominated the third set en route to a 3-1 win over Springfield College in the home opener on Friday night. After dropping the opening set, JWU climbed back and won the final three frames to secure the victory.

Of Note:
The two regional powers traded points early in the first set with JWU taking a 14-10 lead after an attacking error by the Pride. The Wildcats were the first to 20, up 20-18, before Springfield pulled ahead and earned the 25-21 set win behind a Bridget Walsh ace that ended the set.
Springfield raced out to the early lead in set two and the Wildcats had to claw back to within one after a kill by Tiah Scott made the score 18-17, in favor of the visitors. A kill by Kate Walker gave JWU a 21-20 advantage and the Wildcats escaped with the 25-22 win.
Set three was all Johnson & Wales and included back-to-back service aces by Brylee Frank before Bella Oldham capped off the set 25-10. Hannah Dolan claimed two of the final three points of set four as JWU cruised to the 25-15 victory.
The Wildcats hit a .290 for the evening, including a .419 in the fourth and final set, while collecting 11 service aces and eight team blocks to the Pride's six.
