Sixth-Ranked Women’s Volleyball Starts GNAC with a Pair of Wins

NEW LONDON, NH – The Johnson & Wales University women's volleyball team picked up where it left off in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The Wildcats rolled to a pair of victories on Saturday over the GNAC's newest member, Colby-Sawyer, 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-16) and Saint Joseph (Conn.), 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-14).

Johnson & Wales: 5-1, 2-0 GNAC

Statistical Leaders:
Brylee Frank (JWU): 37 assists, 5 digs, 2 blocks vs. CSC
Katie Leidhold (JWU): 8 kills, 8 digs vs. CSC
Bella Oldham (JWU): 7 kills, 8 digs vs. USJ

Of Note:
The two victories run Johnson & Wales' GNAC winning streak to 28 matches, dating back to October 25, 2015.

Leading the way against the Chargers was senior Katie Leidhold with eight kills and eight digs. Four different players had five or more kills.  JWU hit .340 while limiting CSC to a .170 rate.

After cruising to the first two sets against Saint Joseph, the Wildcats found themselves down 12-10 in the third set. JWU ended the match on a 15-2 run.

Johnson & Wales forced the Blue Jays into 23 attacking errors and a -.023 hitting percentage.

Wildcats' setter Brylee Frank diversified the offense with six players notching four or more kills. Sophomore Bella Oldham topped the team with seven kills and eight digs. Rookie Elisabeth Elbrecht produced six kills and three blocks.
